SPEECHLESS SUNDAYS AT CATTLE POINT IN OAK BAY
Many Years ago, around the turn of the last Century back around 1860 to 1910 Cattle were barged here from the BC Mainland to the Uplands Farm In Oak Bay. The Cattle were pushed overboard near shore, they then swam to shore. Local Cowboys would round them up and lead them to the Uplands Farm...Hence The Landing Point became a Landmark and was Named "Cattle Point"
See my photo below of the Landmark Plague located at Cattle Point

AS YOU CAN SEE THE OAK BAY WATERFRONT AT CATTLE POINT IS ROCKY AND BACK IN 1860 THERE WAS NO WAY TO LAND A BARGE SAFELY FOR CATTLE TO JUST WALK OFF.

YEARS LATER A BOAT RAMP WAS BUILT FOR LOCAL SPORTS FISHERMEN TO LAUNCH THEIR FISHING BOATS

DURING THE SALMON SPORTS FISHING SEASON THE CATTLE POINT PARKING LOT IS VERY FULL WITH THE LOCAL FISHERMAN TRUCKS AND THEIR BOAT TRAILERS

DUE TO THE POPULARITY RULES WERE NEEDED TO KEEP ORDERLY BOAT LAUNCHING FOR THE EAGER SALMON SPORTS FISHERMEN
