HISTORY OF THE VICTORIA DAY HOLIDAY IN CANADA.
This Year Victoria Day is May 23, 2011
§Victoria Day was established to celebrate the birthday of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). Victoria Day became an official holiday in Canada by a declaration of the Canadian legislature in 1845.Victoria became the sovereign ruler of Britain and all her domains on
June 20, 1837 upon the death of her uncle King William IV. §She was only 18 years of age. Her reign lasted until her death in 1901, making Victoria the longest ruling monarch in British history.
Official protocol dictates that on Victoria Day the Royal Union Flag must be flown from sunrise to sunset at all federal government buildings — including airports, military bases, and other Crown owned property across the country — where physical arrangements allow (i.e. where a second flag pole exists, as the Royal Union Flag can never displace the national flag).[1]

HAVE YOUR BEST YEAR EVER IN 2012 !
Cheers
